Here's a link to WHO's guide for "unhooking from difficult thoughts and feelings". https://www.who.int/publications/i/item/9789240003927 It includes links to audio. It can be helpful for the experiences you describe

I made a PDF flyer with a QR code for WHO's "Doing What Matters in Times of Stress: An Illustrated Guide" (How to unhook from difficult thoughts and feelings), in case anyone would want to print some out and staple them to a local kiosk, at a local college campus for example. It would be better to learn about this earlier in life than later, imo.

The WHO has a guide for "unhooking from difficult thoughts and feelings". At one point it says "You cannot stop these thoughts from arising. They are normal and natural. But it is not so helpful to get hooked by them." and then goes on to explain some simple practices to help unhook. https://www.who.int/publications/i/item/9789240003927 Here's more detail about how it was tested. https://www.psychologicalscience.org/news/releases/2022-apri...

Also free and relevant - a link to WHO's guide for "unhooking from difficult thoughts and feelings". There's audio you can download. It's not even an app.

This is excellent and to the point. Thanks for sharing.

Also,

WHO's guide for "unhooking from difficult thoughts and feelings" which is not an app, is free, and has downloadable audio exercise guidance.

It's one of the best things of its type I've seen.

That's a good one :D

I like to say 'When people drink they relax, and when they relax, I relax. It works out fine." It does depend on the group.

It's common to find people on https://shutupwrite.com/ doing the same.

I built my writer's habit using the London Writers Salon Writer's Hour daily zoom meetings, this concept has merit as well!

The World Health Org has an illustrated guide that includes a more validated *how* practice to reduce stress. Their terminology is different. They discuss how to unhook from distressing thoughts and feelings. It seems like a better approach. https://www.who.int/publications/i/item/9789240003927

There are audio exercise clips as well, in multiple languages. https://terrance.who.int/mediacentre/audio/MSD/WHO-AUDIO_Str...

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing this.
