FaceMash is a very primitive example of mass surveillance and data gathering: use people's pictures without their consent, collect the social rankings in a database somewhere.
Wrong. He literally made fun of users for giving information that he could use to spy on them and share that ability with friends. It was a childish form of spying but the intent was there and the monetization tactic came later.
He was definitely planning on PII abuse at scale for personal gain from day one. Probably not planning mass surveillance, but from all we know of him, he wouldn't have disliked the idea.

Medicare and Medicaid represent the largest segments of U.S. federal health spending, consuming over a trillion dollars each. Medicare accounts for 21% of national healthcare expenditures. Medicaid constitutes $1 of every $5 spent on healthcare. The US government is helping the poor and the old with their healthcare
I think it’s good to remember that, just 2 years ago, we were having conversations with people convinced LLMs were intelligent and possibly sentient. It’s really good to a) point out that they’re not demonstrating general intelligence and b) why they aren’t a good fit for this type of problem.
That's why I prefer relying on a custom setup based on a Claude Code. Much less surprises, especially if you don't rush into the models prematurely unless forced.
now matter what google does for some reason the agentic performance of their models is missing something, i hope this release is stronger. we need more competition.
I love it. The RAM is not a problem because Apple knows a dirty secret – apps adapt to the environment both at runtime at design time. Give them less RAM, they'll allocate less and clean caches more sooner.
