I'm only one person but that was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I no longer use any google software/services other than gmail and even that is just a spam folder at this point.
That change came after Google's changes around MV3 were released. I actively campaign against using Google anything at my job as well.
Yep the MV3 thing was my ticket out also here. And some benchmarks about firefox better memory usage. All their parlance about they "protecting us" is patronizing.
Shameless plug - I've been working on a general repo linting tool alint [0], which helps keep a repo cleanly structured and hygienic - essentially a linter for everything in a repo that a language-specific linter doesn't cover. It also has some considerations for integrating/playing nicely with agentic coding [1]. This started as a replacement to a bunch of scripts I had in repos that did similar things - but more cohesive, readable and much faster.
You'd have to know what a linter is and tell the LLM to set it up though, right? Or just get lucky and have it suggest setting it up/set one up without asking.
Google is the OG of enshittification. When DoubleClick bought Google, I mean when Google bought DoubleClick, that is when Google started printing money in exchange for a terrible user experience.
Google bought DoubleClick in 2008. That's nearly 20 years back. Either you're suggesting Google Search has been bad for 20 years, or you're just being willfully ignorant.
Anecdotally, I'm in the market for a new 3d printer and have been heavily considering a few Bambu models. All this drama, of which I'm not well informed on, is making me consider other vendors.
Without these issues, I would have already bought a Bambu printer. Now, I'm investigating all competitors.
You'd do well to avoid them if you want to own your printer forever.
I have 3 different Prusa printers, few of which have gone through several upgrades, and I love working with them (and not on them, as I'mnot the tinkering type).
If you haven't already, you might want to read the twitter thread at the root of this HN discussion. It essentially postulates that all Chinese 3D Printer manufacturers are incentivised to follow in the steps of BambuLabs (being members of the state apparatus and subject to the same rules), while suffocating the competition outside of China (by benefitting from unfair advantages under the umbrella of a nationalistic development plan).
