Ya, barrrrmp!
disagree, the main thesus is lingustic evolution as sort of hereditary characteristics whose exact origins are difficult to elucidate, kind of like apples and horses, that also share the same general geographic origins. Various lists of words show conclusivly how many words are conserved over very broad geographic, temporal, and cultural ranges, so it will always be a (low stakes) game of reverse engineering how words and full languages moved around.
perhaps of interest was an early study of austrailian languages, where over time local languages became incomrehensable to distant
tribes, but the ancestral origin songs, were recognisable from there melodic and rythmic structure, and the actaul storys were essentialy identical, so language drift, but cultural continuity, which is aparently what you get after 50 millenia hanging out with marsupials.
The title is a starting admission by the folks on Wall st, that they see a mandate made into law by the US government as bieng 'defiant', which by definition,is that you can only 'defy' your superiors, is one of those little slips
that tells the whole story.
A big bulldozer wont even slow down while driving right through a bit barn, and that is a realistic scenario where humans wipe out all AI, quickly if desired, realy a lot of big bulldozers, cheap too $200~ $400hr.
You're conveniently ignoring the coordination problem. You'd have to take them all out more or less contemporaneously, and if climate change is anything to go by, good luck getting coordinated global action to avert a profitable risk.
I wasn't ignoring the probl, but hey the solution is simple, just get AI to build a bulldozer scheduling app and gather up all the contact info for the bulldozer people, hire a multilingual call center and have the problem take care of itself.
I recoverd a 3/4” studio broadcast VCR/P that when checked, contains a tape that says Doctor Who.
I also at once recovered a wire recorder, with a wire spool inside, and another time wax cylinder recorder, with cylinders.
All sitting there as minor mysteries.
;)
I will place a personal bet/wager on the outcome of some personal action or personal contest, though I refuse to gamble, ever, and people will try and gift me various lottery tickets, or partisipate by facilitating the aquisition of tickets, OR
attempt to have me choose there "numbers", whatever the fuck that is, or operate a special device for such magical inteventions, not kidding.
The hardest part for such people is that I refuse on purely personal grounds, and do not and will not directly critisise or admonish gamblers, the only thing I stick to is that whatever luck I have is fully engaged in direct personal activities and I have none to spare.
I am a gen x'er and as a boy there was no legal gambling, but as boys we bet and wagered constantly on everything with whatever (little) we had, and were also given tools, guns, and equipment to be used under our own discretion, or more often under duress, our very lives at stake should we prove unable to self assess and slow or careless, and the betting was a big part in learning to self assess.
the standard answer to
we have entropy to fight, so the margins have always been small, and with narso/nialists running things it gets nasty while they seek scapegoats for the contradictions they have created
There was a brief moment when the Proton CEO published a whole self agrandizing article with pics of himself and the wifey and what selfless people they are, and how she had her own identity and everything, that and all about the servers sitting inside the swiss alps underground, but hey it was free, still is a free add for email services with an almost completely non functional email service behind the adds. I still use it for certain technical things, but it's broken for everday use in the free version
The whole thing has the hink, hink with grue, almost like it's google with a different skin.
I now have my own web space and email, which is half broken right now, but that suits me as whatever does get through is more work and other time consuming stuff than I can handle
by ruin, it must be assumed that the idea is of grinding the bombed and crushed rubble of the internet into undiferientiated dust, and replacing it with glowy all tooo sleek but deranged images and text, and yup, that is realy happening fast.
the only realy realy good part is that this is very very quickly going to destroy ALL media with it's all too perfect overwhelming production quality, did I mention realy, very, fast? Like 860000 times faster than a human, fast, that fast, and getting faster.
I think that I need a room just for things with doped silicone in them, and have the rest of my space organic, mechanical, or plain electrical, and mostly inert.
did not know we have -246°c to play with, which means the potential for the whole set of usefull volitiles is there, not just water/O²/H², and given that there is also the potential for +121°c very close to cold deposits, gives most of the basics for refining a whole host of molecules and compounds.
Non of that changing the fact that bieng on the moon for any extended time is going to SUCK , the dust is horrible in every possible way, low gravity will weaken , radiation is heavy, and all of the many other risks will add up to a poor career choice, so the compensation will have to be
1 tour, and retire in guaranteed style.
Basicly flying a great big ass laser in a lunar polar orbit and zapping the shaded dark sections of craters while some other satelites watch the resulting gass plumes, and of course carve your initials while no one is looking.
The band where there is enough solar exposure for power and cold traps is going to be narrow and dramaticly reduce the number of candidates, which has very likely been figured out years ago, especialy for earth facing spots.
Still going to need the heavy lift of multiple starship landings and some kind of 'moon link' satelite network.
