I use multiple OSes. I do not want a different list of extensions and preferences on each machine I am on. Firefox makes it simple and uniform.

I have been only using GLM models since last December and have had the best experience without any drama about tokens and geopolitical restrictions. The quality has been great and I am doing more and more with the latest 5.3 and am really excited that consumer hardware will develop in the next few years where I can run these at home.

I am very excited that more makers will come up with fast memory for consumers rather than enterprise. Companies can only pre order so much RAM.

At some point there will be a surplus of fast memory and even in a crash the current generation of SLMs are bounced to be plenty to build a lot of intelligence at home.

Still a massive market looks like.

Last i read most of the money came from people not reading the fine print on their $100 deposit and only a few thousand have actually been distributed.

Looking now I see maybe tens of thousands of open orders still

"Looking now"? Is this something they publicize for some unknowable reason?

I don’t want to get bogged down in a source dispute - this is very easy to search and/but I only spent about 60s on it. I am hardly an expert. Feel free to look it up as well and tell me how I am entirely wrong. This was a combination of AI responses + thumbing through the sources linked to make sure it wasn’t invented whole cloth.

I do not think they are selling well. That seems to be the consensus here.

I don't think they are selling well, either. I was wondering at your source since it would be very atypical for any company to give any numbers at all, let alone a company that's so outwardly sketchy, let alone numbers like "This is the number of orders we have standing open despite being actively in production." This is the exact kind of thing I would not expect to be easy to search, and it'd be ripe for AI hallucination.

The only numbers I can find in a quick search of my own are the leaked numbers stating 30,000 orders placed from 10,000 customers, with nothing said about shipped orders.

Grow our way out of that means hitting the $50 trillion number.

There's a reason you say that with a throwaway account. Even you know it's shameful.

It's probably Elon Musk.

Is there any data on Azure being terrible with stability? Would love to see data than anecdotal stories.

There isn't and if there is it probably doesn't matter in GH's case. People are just speculating with zero knowledge.

I'd never put my data on anything owned by Musk. Period. I'd take lower availability from GitHub or a worse alternative (feature-wise) than move Origin.

I'm with you on that. I was just curious about Azure reliability stats.

He would not have been attached the current administration if he had even hinted at so. Quite the opposite.

I highly doubt 415 million people will find enough reason to purchase $100 worth of Anthropic, especially when the price of intelligence keeps going down and smaller models become more and more capable to meet the average person's needs like drafting emails, customer support, basic RAG.

The cost of intelligence doesn't matter, it will just make margins wider.

Just look at software over the last 20 years. People pay based on the value they receive, not the cost the produce or serve it. That fact is literally is the backbone of tech, and why it has been an absolute money machine.

I think the worst case scenario for the labs is current (or next gen) SoTA models reaching a point where cheap consumer hardware can fully run them. But the labs practically have a monopsony on compute, and getting the kind of long context current models thrive on out of 16GB GDDR6 is gonna be a trick.

Tech has been a money machine because it has a marginal cost if approximately 0, so tech companies could literally give there products away and live off of the pennies they get from serving adds. Software is one of the hardest product classes to get people to pay for because the cost is anchored at 0.

"But the labs practically have a monopsony on compute..."

Another bozo who read a intro microeconomics textbook, learned a fancy word, and doesn't know how to apply it! LOL.

Wow you people on here are really funny.

Also that bozo is not bringing to the surface the implicit assumption of going-concern in perpituity.

Most people shouldn't open their mouths / write anything re. valuation TBH.
